Discovering history, One Step At a time.

I’m Jacob, a 24-year-old Melbourne native. Raised in a city not even two-hundred years old, it’s odd how I came to love history. I can’t tell you why – I just do!

I’ve always had an insatiable curiosity about anything and everything. There is nothing quite like piecing together the puzzle and gaining a better understanding of the world, especially when the conclusions you come to ruffles some feathers!

My interests and talents vary: linguistics, philosophy, politics, religion, music, hiking, just to name a few. But above all, my passion is history.

You’ll usually find me nose deep in a book, learning as much as I can about the story of humanity and how everything has come to be the way it is.

You can learn more about me here.

As much as I love reading, sometimes a book just cannot do history justice.

Which is why I go to historical sites if the opportunity arises. To take in the environment, whether developed or miles away from civilisation, gives you a better understanding of the stories that took place there.

And sometimes, the only way you can understand humanity is to examine our environment. The mountains, rivers, oceans, forests and animals have had an incredible impact on us – more than you’d think.

Hence why I’ve started 21st Century Jacobsweg.

The name comes from Jakobsweg, the German name for the Camino de Santiago. Jakobsweg (literally “Jacob’s Path”) stretches all away across northern Spain and began in the 11th Century!

I’m walking my own path in the 21st Century, hence the 21st Century Jacobsweg!

Come join me as I journey through history and learn about just how we got to where we are. Not only do I want to learn more about the world, but I want to share what I’ve discovered with you.

You can read the blog here.

To understand why things are as they are, we must retrace the paths our ancestors walked and learn the lessons forever at risk of being forgotten.

My goal is simple: I want to tell you stories about the past.

I want these stories to be inspiring and empowering, qualities desperately needed these days.

I want to inspire you to embark upon your own trip through history.

To make sure I can accomplish this mission, I am constantly reading, researching and travelling to historical sites to make sure I’m getting the full story. I’m working hard to make sure what I put out is informative, entertaining and, above all, accurate.

My Youtube channel is dedicated to discussing the questions and problems related to history, and how we can always find a positive, optimistic outcome to it all. Or, sometimes they’re just stories from my travels I want to tell.

Follow me on social media to be notified when a post goes up!

I am still young; I have a lot to learn about the world. Why not help me discover and learn?

If you wish to contact me, you can do so here.

Happy travels!
